Why women crave the exquisite beauty of Louis Vuitton?

Bags have always been a useful way for women to carry their possessions. But until a few decades ago, women carried their purses tucked into their clothing. As travel became more common, women started experimenting with larger bags. Now, a handbag is the most coveted accessory for any woman. It instantly puts her taste, savvy and spending power out for all to see. Fashion brands understand this urge and provide a staggering array of choices.

Louis Vuitton is one such house that has been fulfilling women's cravings for stylish handbags for many years.

A history lesson

  • Louis Vuitton is a French company that was founded in the year 1854 by a man with the same name.
  • They started out as a luggage brand, first creating "stackable" luggage to entice travelers over long voyages.
  • Until they came along, luggage was always made rounded and not flat and hence could not be stacked.

Louis Vuitton's son, George, is credited with promoting the phenomenal growth of this brand around the world. He patented their canvas and designs, not to mention the intertwining "LV" monogram, ensuring everyone fell for the exquisite beauty of Louis Vuitton.

How Audrey Hepburn influenced it?

Audrey Hepburn is a fashion icon revered by many. Her elegant, chic and classy look has become legendary with many trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to learn from her charisma.

But did you know that she was also responsible for what is probably the most iconic of all Louis Vuitton handbags today? She requested the fashion house for a miniature day bag along the lines of their Keep all bags. Of course, they obliged! This was later turned into a regular production piece that we know as the Speedy bags of today! Legendary, huh?

Their struggle with limitations

Louis Vuitton has a whole team dedicated to making sure there are no cheap imitations of their brand in the market. So much so, that they are now no longer available at any of the high-end shopping outlets like Macys, etc. They sell through their signature stores only.

But did you know that they developed the famous canvas monogram expressly because it could not be counterfeited? That's right; it was supposed to be a challenge with the available technology of the day.

Before you move on

Remember, thebeauty of Louis Vuitton comes with a storied history. Few fashion houses have cemented their place as they have. So, go on, shop for a bit of history!
